Integrated Planning

We Bridge Logistics and SAP Financials...

The groundwork for a successful business performance management is provided by globally integrated, both cross-system and transnational corporate planning based on globally targeted quantities through APS systems, e. g. APO. This is not a must, the target quantity can also base upon MRP II or on already existing sales planning. Standard systems support insufficiently the resulting cost and profit planning. That is just the point where GCP engine applies, assesses the quantities in the evaluation approaches of local calculations, deduces global costs, intercompany profits and external earnings. How the SAP planning cycle is complemented by GCP engine, is described in the chapter planning steps with gcp engine running one after the other.

Support by IT systems in exact planning leaves often a lot to be desired. If intermediate goods have to be obtained for capacity reasons from third parties or other facilities and APO provides accordingly optimal subscription ratios, then there should also be combined costing in this ratio. In practice, it remains undone, because subscription ratios are not integrated in combined costing and so budgeted costs are calculated on the basis of 100 % indigenous production. This causes variances in the comparison of planned and actual data, which are not really variances, but are rooted in an inexact planning. Furthermore there are often initial inventories purchased at a price other than calculated in the complete planning period. If desired, the GCP engine is also able to resolve such inaccuracies transferring exchange ratios and scheduling costs corresponding to each purchase option.
