| Group Costing, Corporate ControllingMapping Global Supply and Value Chain at Corporate Level...For some years the globalization now shows two basic trends: On the one hand there is a decreasing vertical range of manufacture, on the other hand it goes along with an increasing number of participants in the value chain caused by relocation into low cost countries, external and internal outsourcing. These trends implicated that primarily in the field of supply chain management planning and methods (i.e. Manufacturing Ressources Planning, MRP II) targeted on single companies weren't suitable any longer and had to be replaced by novel procedures and systems (i.e. Advanced Planning System, APS). They are aimed at planning, monitoring and optimizing of company-wide and partly cross-company value chains. The SAP answer to these trends is APO (Advanced Planner and Optimizer), but the competitors also have developed marketable solutions, i.e. I2, Manugistics and others, whose industrial implementation has already charged off amortized in most instances. What is mostly ignored up to now and remains absolutely unlighted, is the holistic consideration of the value flows with the resulting quantities in the APS systems which is of particular importance for group costing and -controlling. Conflict SituationIn many cases, there is the prevalent opinion that one has just to evaluate the quantities in the APS systems with the prizes according to and then apply all in a business intelligence system. Far from it! Especially in industrial corporations operating with compound production, it is necessary to have a wholly parallel costing in corporate currency in addition to the local costing for being able to feed the business performance management system with data concerning the global profitability (case studies). Examples are BASF, Evobus, International Paper, Heidelberger Druck, Infineon in order to mention just a few representatives of different industries. IM&C focuses on the integrated consideration, planning, monitoring, and checkup of corporate and even cross-company value chains. For this reason, IM&C has already established an unique solution in various industries: the GCP engine (group costing and profitability engine). The architecture of the GCP engine fits without any difficulties into other SAP system environments and is similar to other systems of the SAP business suite. Using the GCP engine, local planning costings including variances can be realized consistently and real-time without abstaining from a recurrent multilevel actual costing according to local and global values. GCP is open to non-SAP systems and integrates mass flows as well as value flows along the cross-system value chain. | NewsGerman E3 magazineInterview: "Don't leave it to the accountants"
